Applying for Approval of Real Estate Courses

The Commission does not require detailed course applications for individual real estate courses offered by approved schools. To offer a new course, a school must mail or fax the one-page Application for Course Code and Authorization to the Commission. Once approved, the Commission will enter the new course code into the course completions area of our website. An approved school may not hold out a course as approved until the course is posted on the Commission's electronic record of the school's courses or the school receives a certificate of approval from the Commission.

Prior to applying for an approved course, it is important that a school understand the common requirements for all courses and the unique requirements for the different types of courses. An overview of these requirements can be found on this website via the links on the left-hand side of this page. For more detailed information, we recommend reviewing sections 520-2-.04 of the Real Estate License Law as well as the Real Estate School & Instructors Manual.

Some Continuing Education Courses may require the Commission's authorization of the course content before the course is offered by the school. The Commission requires a school to submit a course outline with the application for those courses.

The requirements for course approval for a new real estate school are more stringent and detailed information on these requirements can be found by clicking here.
